Connect Claude to your Busy Accounting data

A step-by-step guide to linking Claude to AccMCP so it can answer questions about your Busy accounting data.

If you use Busy Accounting and Claude, you can ask Claude questions about your accounting data directly — outstanding bills, sales trends, product performance — without opening a report or writing a query.

This guide walks through connecting the two.

Before you start

You'll need:

  • An active AccMCP subscription with your Busy company data already syncing
  • A Claude account that supports custom connectors

Step 1: Add a custom connector

Open Claude's settings and add a custom connector. Claude can discover AccMCP automatically through client identity metadata, or you can register it manually if your Claude client supports dynamic client registration.

Step 2: Approve the connection

Claude will show a consent screen with the verified AccMCP client name. Review the requested access and approve it. Your AccMCP token is never pasted into the conversation — the whole exchange happens through OAuth 2.1.

Step 3: Ask your first question

Once connected, try something like:

Which customers have bills overdue by more than 30 days?

Claude will call the right tool behind the scenes — in this case, the customer outstanding lookup — and return a real, current answer scoped to your company and financial year.

What Claude can and can't do

Every tool Claude uses through AccMCP is read-only, with two exceptions: the sales and purchase register export tools, which create private, downloadable CSV files. Nothing Claude does ever writes back to Busy.

If you ask for something the data can't support — like an exact gross profit figure without the cost data to back it up — AccMCP's profitability-readiness check stops Claude from guessing, and tells you exactly what's missing instead.
